1. Personal Responsibility for Data Accuracy
Squins is a manual expense tracking tool. All transaction data — amounts, categories, dates, and notes — is entered by you, the user. Squins does not connect to your bank accounts or payment systems, and therefore cannot verify the accuracy of the figures you input.
You are solely responsible for the correctness of the financial data you record in the app. Squins bears no liability for decisions made based on incorrect, incomplete, or out-of-date data entered by the user. We recommend reviewing your entries regularly against your actual bank statements.
2. Not Financial Advice — Important Disclaimer
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: The Squins AI Advisor is an informational tool only and does NOT constitute professional financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Insights, suggestions, and summaries generated by the AI are based solely on the transaction data you have manually entered into the app. They are provided for informational and educational purposes only and must not be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified financial advisor, certified accountant, tax professional, or licensed investment broker.
Squins is not a licensed financial institution, registered investment advisor, or regulated broker-dealer. The AI Advisor does not have access to real-time market data, interest rate information, or your complete financial picture. Its outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your specific circumstances.
We accept no liability for financial losses, missed tax obligations, poor investment outcomes, or any other damages arising from reliance on any AI-generated content within this application. You bear full personal responsibility for all financial decisions you make.
For significant financial decisions — investments, loans, tax planning, retirement, debt management — always consult a certified and licensed professional.
3. License to Use & Age Requirement
Age requirement: You must be at least 16 years old to use Squins if you are located in the European Union or EEA, or at least 13 years old in other regions, subject to applicable local law. By using Squins, you confirm that you meet the minimum age requirement for your jurisdiction. If you do not meet this requirement, please do not use Squins.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and the age requirement above, Squins grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Squins mobile application for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
This license does not grant you the right to:
— Sublicense, sell, resell, or commercially exploit the app
or its features.
— Modify, copy, or create derivative works of the app.
— Use the app for any commercial purpose without our
explicit written consent.
— Access the app through automated means (bots, scripts,
scrapers).
All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved by Squins.
4. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (email address and password) and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
— Use a strong, unique password not reused across other
services.
— Enable biometric lock or app PIN as an additional layer of
protection.
— Not share your account credentials with any other
person.
— Immediately notify us at
support@squins.app
if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
Squins will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with these security obligations. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication on your linked email account for maximum protection.
5. Data Portability & Export
You own your financial data and have the right to take it with you at any time. Squins provides built-in export functionality accessible from Settings → Export Data:
CSV Export: A structured, comma-separated file containing your complete transaction history with all fields (date, amount, category, currency, notes). Compatible with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and any personal finance software that accepts CSV imports.
PDF Export: A formatted, print-ready financial report summarizing your transactions and spending by category. Suitable for personal records, accountant handoffs, or tax preparation reference.
Both export formats are generated entirely on-device. No data is transmitted to external servers during export. We recommend exporting your data before deleting your account, as deletion is permanent and irreversible.
6. Premium Subscription Terms
The core features of Squins are available at no cost. Squins Premium is an optional paid tier that unlocks advanced analytics, unlimited AI Advisor sessions, priority support, and future exclusive features.
Billing: Premium subscriptions are billed monthly or annually, as selected at checkout. Payment is processed through Google Play or the Apple App Store; Squins does not store your payment card details.
Cancellation: You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time through your app store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time unless required by applicable law.
Free trial: New accounts receive a 7-day free trial of Squins Pro. The trial requires no payment method and no commitment — you will not be asked for any card details to activate it. At the end of the 7-day period, the trial expires automatically and your account reverts to the free tier at no cost. No charge is ever applied automatically. To continue using Pro features after the trial, you must explicitly choose and complete a subscription purchase through the in-app paywall. The trial duration may be adjusted in future promotions; the current length is always displayed within the app.
Ad-supported free plan: The free tier of Squins is supported by in-app advertising. If you are on the free plan, advertisements may be displayed within the app, and our advertising partners (Google AdMob and AppLovin MAX) may collect advertising identifiers from your device as described in the Privacy Policy, Section 13. Pro subscribers and users currently on a free trial experience a completely ad-free environment — advertising SDKs are not initialized for these users. You may upgrade to Pro at any time to permanently remove all advertising.
Refunds: Refund eligibility is governed by Google Play and Apple App Store policies. Contact us at support@squins.app if you believe you are owed a refund.
7. Service Availability
We are committed to keeping Squins available and reliable. Our infrastructure is hosted on Google Firebase, which maintains a globally distributed, high-availability architecture.
However, we cannot guarantee 100% uptime. Squins depends on third-party cloud services (Firebase, Squins AI backend) that may occasionally experience outages, planned maintenance, or unexpected disruptions beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses or inconveniences caused by temporary service interruptions.
Because Squins is offline-first, core functionality — adding transactions, viewing your history, accessing budgets — remains available even when cloud connectivity is unavailable. Sync and AI features require an active internet connection.
We will communicate scheduled maintenance or significant outages via our official channels with reasonable advance notice.
8. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property in the Squins application — including but not limited to the Squins brand name, logo, visual design system, UI/UX, source code, AI prompt architecture, and written content — is exclusively owned by or licensed to Squins and is protected under applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, modify, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit any part of Squins' intellectual property without explicit prior written permission.
Your transaction data and personal content remain your own property. By using Squins, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process your data solely for the purpose of delivering the service to you.
9. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited when using Squins:
Reverse engineering: Decompiling, disassembling, or attempting to extract source code from the Squins application.
Security circumvention: Attempting to bypass, disable, or interfere with any security mechanisms, authentication systems, or Firestore Security Rules.
Automated access: Using bots, scrapers, or automated scripts to interact with or extract data from the app or its backend.
Fraudulent use: Using the app to facilitate money laundering, fraud, or any other illegal financial activity.
Misrepresentation: Impersonating another user, person, or entity within the app.
Violations may result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement authorities.
10. Account Termination
By you: You may delete your account at any time by navigating to Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by submitting a request to support@squins.app. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
By Squins: We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms of Service, engage in prohibited activities, abuse the AI Advisor, or pose a security risk to other users or our infrastructure.
In cases of suspected fraud or security incidents, we may act without prior notice. For non-urgent violations, we will typically issue a warning and allow a remediation period before taking action.
Upon termination, your license to use the app ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution) remain in effect after termination.
11. Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service periodically to reflect changes in the law, our services, or our business practices. We are committed to transparent communication about any material changes.
Notification process: For material changes, we will notify you via an in-app banner displayed prominently on your next login, and via email to the address associated with your account, at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Continued use: Your continued use of Squins after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you may delete your account before the effective date.
All previous versions of these Terms are archived and available upon request by emailing support@squins.app.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms of Service and any disputes arising from or in connection with them are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The operator's registered address is in Gera, Germany, as stated in the Impressum.
EU consumer rights: If you are an EU or EEA consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you are habitually resident, regardless of the governing law clause above. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under applicable EU law.
Online Dispute Resolution (ODR): The European Commission provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform for EU consumers: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/. Our contact email for ODR purposes is support@squins.app. We are not obliged or willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
For any disputes, we encourage you to contact us directly at support@squins.app first — we will always try to resolve issues amicably before any formal proceedings become necessary.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Squins and its operator, Mahdi Ehsani, shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, or financial losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app or these Terms.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Squins shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amount you paid for Squins Premium in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) €50.
These limitations do not apply to liability arising from: (i) our gross negligence or wilful misconduct; (ii) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (iii) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (iv) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable mandatory law, including EU consumer protection law.
Squins is a personal finance tracking tool, not a financial institution. We are not liable for any financial losses resulting from decisions made based on data you enter or insights generated by the AI Advisor. Please review Section 2 (Not Financial Advice) for the full disclaimer.
14. Ad-Supported Free Tier
The free tier of Squins is supported by in-app advertising. This is what allows us to offer a full-featured, free version of the app. Here is exactly what this means for you depending on your plan.
Free-plan users: By using the free tier, you agree that advertisements may be displayed within the app. Our advertising partners — Google AdMob and AppLovin MAX — may collect advertising identifiers from your device (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android) and your IP address to serve and measure in-app ads. Your financial data, transaction history, and AI chat content are never shared with these advertising partners. For full details on what is collected and how to opt out, see Privacy Policy, Section 13.
Squins Pro subscribers: Advertising SDKs (AdMob and AppLovin MAX) are never initialized for active Pro subscribers. Your experience is 100% ad-free at the code level — not just visually hidden, but never loaded. Ad networks cannot collect any data about Pro users.
Free-trial users (7-day trial): The 7-day free trial also delivers a completely ad-free experience. Advertising SDKs are not initialized during the trial period. We believe your trial should authentically reflect what Pro feels like.
You may upgrade to Squins Pro at any time to permanently remove all advertising. Upgrades are processed through Google Play or the Apple App Store as described in Section 6.
